If you ever search for cheap hotel bookings online, there’s big chance you seen the Traveluro website before. The prices look super low, sometimes even weirdly low, like a mistake or something. So now you’re probly wondering, is Traveluro legit or is it one of them shady online travel agencies that just take your money and dissapear?

Well, I been deep diving into this for a while, reading hundreds of negative reviews, customer stories and some good ones too. And honestly, the answer isn’t so black or white.

What is Traveluro and How it Works

So, Traveluro is basically a hotel booking site owned by a company called Holisto Ltd. They say they work by buying rooms in bulk from hotels and reselling it for cheaper. That’s how they get lower prices.

In theory, that sounds cool right? You get cheaper booking options and they make small profit per booking. But the problem starts when the system mess up somewhere between Traveluro and the actual hotel.

A lot of users said they booked through Traveluro, got a nice looking confirmation email, and everything looked fine. But then later they called the hotel and boom — the hotel say “we dont have your name in our system.”

That’s probly one of the worst feelings when you already paid with credit card, thinking your hotel is waiting for you.

So, Is Traveluro Legit or Not Really?

Technically yeah, it’s a real company. It’s not some fake scam site trying to steal your info. But just coz it’s real doesn’t mean it’s always reliable.

People online are split in half. Some says it worked fine, some says it ruined their trip. And a lot of the bad stuff come down to poor customer service, wrong charges, and no refund when things go wrong.

Even Better Business Bureau, a trusted consumer protection organization, list Traveluro with lots of complaints and low rating. Many users claim they tried to cancel a reservation and never got money back or reply from support.

    So is it scam? No.
Is it headache? Quite often yes.

    Real Experiences From Travelers

    Some Had Good Luck

A few people said their booking went smooth. Like:

“I booked through Traveluro, got the confirmation email right away and everything went fine. Hotel had my name and checkin was easy.”

These ones usually double check with the hotel before the trip. When you called the hotel, you can avoid half the problems honestly.

    But Many Had Bad Ones

And then there’s the other group of people who swear they’ll never use it again.

“Traveluro charged my credit card twice and I couldn’t reach customer service for days.”
“There was hidden taxes and fees I didn’t see at first. I tried to cancel a reservation but they said it’s nonrefundable. Never again.”

Those kind of negative reviews are all over Reddit, Trustpilot, Sitejabber and even TripAdvisor threads. Some folks even arrived at hotels and the front desk literally said, “we don’t work with Traveluro anymore.”

    Why Problems Happen So Often

It’s not always scammy, sometimes it’s just messy business system.

    1. Too Many Middle Layers

Traveluro don’t always book rooms directly with hotels. They sometimes use other online travel agencies in-between. So your reservation goes through 2-3 systems before hotel gets it. And that’s where bookings get lost.

    2. Refund and Cancel Policy Confusions

Most people don’t read the small writing. Many of those “super cheap” rooms are non refundable. So if you try to cancel a reservation or even change date, good luck. You probly wont get refund.

    3. Poor Customer Service

The customer service is like, hit and miss. Some users said they got help after few days, others said nobody ever reply. If something urgent happen, you might be stuck.

Pros and Cons (in simple words)

    Pros ✅

    • Cheaper prices than big sites
    • Instant confirmation email in most cases
    • Lots of booking options worldwide
    • Works okay when system don’t glitch
    • Simple website design

    Cons ❌

    • Tons of negative reviews online
    • Hidden taxes and fees sometimes appear later
    • Weak or slow customer service
    • Double charges on credit card reported
    • Hard to cancel a reservation
    • Some hotels never recieve booking info

How To Stay Safe When Using Traveluro

If you still gonna try it (maybe coz the price too good), here’s few things that can save you from headache later.

    1. Always Call the Hotel

After booking, don’t just wait. Call and ask, “Do you see my name in your system?” If they don’t, send Traveluro message right away. When you called the hotel, it can literally save your trip.

    2. Pay Smart

Always use a credit card, not debit. That way you can dispute if something goes wrong. Debit cards don’t got that kind of protection.

    3. Keep Every Proof

Save screenshots, the confirmation email, and receipt with all taxes and fees. If you ever need to contact bank, these will help.

    4. Don’t Use It For Big Events

If your trip is important — like wedding, conference, family vacation — don’t risk it. Just book direct or through trusted online travel agencies like Expedia, Booking.com etc. Sometimes peace of mind worth the extra money.

Comparison: Traveluro vs Major Online Travel Agencies

    FeatureTraveluroBooking.com / Expedia
    PriceUsually cheaperSlightly higher
    Booking ReliabilityMixedStrong
    Refund OptionVery limitedMore flexible
    Customer ServiceOften slowMuch faster
Extra Taxes and FeesNot clear sometimesUsually transparent
    Trust LevelMediumHigh

If you’re okay with risk, Traveluro might work. If you value calm mind and clear rules, go with big name sites.

Is Traveluro Safe for Hotel Bookings?

So, is Traveluro legit? Yeah, kind of. It’s a real legit company, but also very inconsistent. Some users get awesome deals, others get stress and no refund.

It’s fine for short or flexible trips where you can handle issue if something goes wrong. But for expensive travel or holidays, you’d better use something more reliable.

Also don’t ignore taxes and fees part — many users said final amount was more than what site showed first.

Final Verdict: Should You Use Traveluro?

To be honest, Traveluro is like gambling. You either win and get cheap room or lose and deal with support for weeks.

    Here’s what you gotta remember:

    • Always called the hotel after booking
    • Use credit card to pay
    • Don’t ignore small print on taxes and fees
    • Avoid for big travel plans
    • Save your confirmation email and all proof

So yes, Traveluro is legit, but it’s risky and has too many negative reviews to ignore.

    Quick Summary

    • ✅ Real company (Holisto Ltd)
    • ⚠️ Many bad experiences
    • 💳 Always use credit card
    • 🏨 Verify directly with hotel
    • 📞 Poor customer service and hidden taxes and fees
    • ❌ Hard to cancel a reservation once done

    Final words:

Traveluro can save you some money, but it can also cost you nerves. If you’re okay with that, go for it. But if you don’t like surprises, maybe skip it and use a site that’s more straight foward.
